Another from Alaska

Here's another one from Alaska. I got ran out of time an couldn't finish the foreground trees, but I don't really think it matters. (I do think Bob Ross would have me go back and finish them.) I think i got some nice layering of the pine trees and of the mountains in the background, but the picture is definitely lacking something. I think, though, that I am getting better.

Alaska

Well, I thought I had a great handle on this one. I was painting great, or thought so, until I got to the grass and plants in around the lake. At that point i think i got a little to literal for this painting. I had what I though was a really nice painting going. Some really nice mountains, some nice pine forrest in front of them then the train, and, blammo. I don't know what happened. I just got way to literal. Well, I still like this one. I't trying to push mysel to paint more loosely and just have to keep at it. Hope you all enjoy it.

Utah, again?

OK, first off, i know about the runs in the shadow. I think i've gotten a really good idea how to do this. i do think this is my best one yet, despite the run. I definitely feel like I am learning still and getting better. Feel like i am learning to mix colors on the fly and give the pictures a greater depth and detail.

quick lighthouse

Trying to do some "loose" painting. In order to do it, I need to work with slightly wet paper. I did this entire painting in about 20 minutes. I'm don't think it's the best thing I've done, but I think that given the amount of painting I get to do, I think it turned out great. It takes time to learn the technique and I have incorporated some of these techniques into some of the paintings I have done, but this is perhaps the first one I've done that i did the whole thing "loose." Im really happy that it actually looks like there are 3 outcroppings of rocks. Was worried how that would look when I started.

Bevy of Birds

These are a number of birds I painted quickly. The blue birds are similar to the other retro birds. One seems to have some sort of condition. The two larger birds I tried to see if I could paint birds in under 3 minutes. This is what I came up with.

Utah Canyon 3

I think I'm making progress. I've removed the snow and made it a more spring or summer scene. This is also my third attempt at getting the striation and shadowing on the cliffs. I am happy with the way the cliff on the right looks like it is so much further back than the one on the left.

Old Corral

Ok, here it is. The first commissioned painting. An old corral in the desert. I think it came out pretty goo. Im really happy with the tree, the wood on the corral and love the shading on the plants in the foreground. This was really the first time i attempted using splatter in order to make texture. I'm really happy with the way it turned out.
