house in a field (unfinished)
This one is not quite done, bu I think it is coming a long so well, that I wanted to post it. I think the mountains look spectacular, and my skies are really coming along. I'm going to put a road or a fence or some such thing in the foreground.

Another One From Morro Bay
Another shot of Morro Bay Rock. This one kind of has the perspective of being on the Sand Spit and looking north. The rocks in the foreground ar supposed look black from being underwater. I don't think I fully captured it. But I think the rock looks really good, and my clouds are getting better.
Good Ole Morro Bay Rock

If You're Going To San Francisco
There isn't a lot of detail in this one, but I still think it is a nice picture. I tried to get some nice reflection from the bridge. I think I am getting better at mixing colors. I also think I am getting better at clouds and skie in general. I may revisit this one and add some more detail later.

Bridge Over Troubled (well, ok calm) Water
A quick one I did last night. Love the shadowing on the bridge, but I think its too black with the rigging on the bridge. Also, I like the reflections. Maybe I'll go back and put people walking on the bridge or somethig.

Quick Painting From Last Night
Am Working through a watercolor book and the artist works with a limited palette. I am trying to do the same thing. I can mix my own greens, but I think my coloring was off in this one. I needed greyer greens in the back and more vibrant greens in the front. Well, thats why they call it practice.

House on a River
Well, I think I'm getting the hang of some things. The trees in the background do give a nice fall theme. I could have mixed the colors a bit more, maybe thrown in a few reds, but in general I like how they turned out. The trees behind the house I obviously rushed a bit. I really think I got carried away with the reflection of the distant trees. I think it overpowers the water. And I wasn't exactly sure what to do with the reflection of the house. But all-in-all, a good step forward.

One BAD, One Good.
The first one is obviosly the bad one. It turned out carrots again. I loosened up a lot on the second one. It turned out much better. It did mean changing the picture a bit, but I think I kept true to what the inspiration picture is.
This is another picture where I feel like I've learned a lot by painting it. It was hard for me not to try to recreate the painting as I saw it, but once I changed the look of what I was doing, it made loosening up a lot easier.

Once more from the northern most state
This one I think I managed to get some depth into and I even think it kind of looks like the train is moving. Most of this picture was painted with a few flatbrushes. The only round brush used was a rigger to pint some shadow and the wheels. The flatbrush is quickly becoming a favorite. I can see why so many people like it.

Sold Sold Sold
Today is an historic date. I have sold my first painting on Etsy. The Old Distressed Boat no longer belongs to me. It will shortly be on its way to a new home in Canada.
So long, Old Distressed Boat, you will be missed but not forgotten.
